Nestled on the northern coastline of Mauritius in Baie du Tombeau, Cocotiers Hotel puts you within easy reach of the island’s most captivating destinations — from vibrant markets to tranquil botanical gardens and pristine beaches.

Discover Port Louis, the vibrant capital of Mauritius, and immerse yourself in its iconic Central Market. One of the best ways to feel the pulse of this multicultural island — strong scents, bright colours, and an extraordinary variety of spices, pastries and exotic local specialities.

Stroll through the waterfront Caudan Bazaar, explore the Natural History Museum, and soak up the energy of a city where Creole, Indian, Chinese and European cultures converge in perfect harmony.

The world’s most ancient tropical botanical garden, originally created for the personal enjoyment of French governor François Mahé de Labourdonnais and opened to the public in 1770. It is celebrated for its giant Victoria amazonica water lilies, but hides many other gems of nature within its rich diversity of species.

A tranquil one-hour stroll through this living museum is an unforgettable experience — the perfect contrast to the energy of the city.

Just 7 km from Pamplemousses Garden, the Labourdonnais estate is a continuation of the same historical heritage. The château was built in 1859 as a colonial mansion and has been lovingly restored into a museum showcasing Mauritius’s Franco-Mauritian history.

The estate also features a manicured tropical garden and a functioning distillery producing artisanal rums and fruit conserves — making it a wonderful half-day excursion.

Grand Baie is Mauritius’s most cosmopolitan coastal village — the ideal place to shop, dine and socialise. Over the last two decades it has grown rapidly, attracting an eclectic mix of food outlets, boutiques, restaurants, and buzzing nightlife, particularly popular on weekends.

The bay itself is a sheltered natural lagoon with calm, clear turquoise water perfect for swimming, kayaking, and boat trips to nearby islands including Coin de Mire.

The dramatic volcanic island of Coin de Mire (Gunner’s Coin) rises 276 metres from the sea on the northern horizon. Its striking silhouette is visible from Grand Baie and the northern beaches. A protected nature reserve, it is home to seabirds and rare flora found nowhere else on Earth.

Boat excursions from Grand Baie allow you to dive around the island’s volcanic rock formations and explore its crystal-clear coves — a must for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts.

The Notre Dame Auxiliatrice church at Cap Malheureux is one of the most photographed landmarks in Mauritius — its vivid red roof set against emerald gardens and the deep blue sea creates an image straight from a fairytale. The northernmost point of the island offers a breathtaking panoramic view towards Coin de Mire.

In the nearby village you can watch local fishermen returning with their daily catch, explore beachside restaurants, and experience the quiet, unhurried rhythm of Mauritian coastal life.

10 minutes north of Port Louis on the coastal road.
